Branding only works for cash RICH businesses.
It’s not the right thing if you are a small or mid-size business.
Branding needs constant ad budgets.
It means waiting for months with no guarantee people will buy from you.
People will often mail postcards, run ads, and manage campaigns that are just designed to get some visibility for their name.
It sure gets you visibility but sales? No.
How many clients landed on your doorstep because of your branding?
Discovering you on social media or Google is not branding.
Getting a referral from a friend or client is not branding.
Meeting people offline in workshops /events and pitching them your business with happy clients list is not branding.
So why are we chasing FAME?
While it may seem like a common wisdom and a very wise thing to do… it’s really not something you’d want to waste your limited resources (people & money) on.
On the other hand, direct response is really focused on building wealth.
You don’t care about visibility. You care about getting people’s names and email addresses.
You build a marketing process that works like a vending machine.
You know that if you put X dollars in, you’ll get Y prospects out.
It’s repeatable and predictable. And you know exactly how much it costs to start a relationship with your ideal prospects.
But here’s the thing…
You can only build your marketing “vending machine” when you know who your target market is.
You got to really narrow down to your TG. Use Pareto principle and trim your current target audience to 20%. Do that, it’s very very important. You will have surprisingly more customers waiting at the doorstep.
Make segments if required because for a travel company everyone who travels is a prospect but that’s where they make mistake and end up being chasing clients & wealth without success.
